Bright Spot in the Sky

The NW is definitely the best place on this plant, but let me tell you, in January, when you haven't seen the sun in what feels like months, it begins to look a lot less appealing. I say that, not because I have fallen out of love with my beautiful Seattle, but because I am down here in Arizona. I know, fair weather fan! What can I say? It is true. The sun is shining; I am wearing Reefs and am about to go for a walk in shorts and a T-shirt.

It appalls me to even think the thought, but I miss, ever so slightly, I mean like on the atomic level, Iraq. (I can't believe those words came out of my mouth.) But I am an honest Joe and I will say that Iraq in Dec and Jan is not that bad of a place. I stood out on the tarmac on various mornings and sucked in the clean crisp air. Looked up into a cloudless blue sky and smiled. Most of that joy came from the comparison less than the reality. When a place is so miserable, a little relief becomes a great delight.

It is just like with the NW. You must endure the not so harsh and dreary winters, because without them, the spring, summer and falls wouldn't be what they are. I truly believe that Washingtonians are the most grateful people on the planet. That is why I love it there.
